Nyssa Prowell is an artist and naturalist based in the heart of Skagit Valley, WA. Her namesake comes from the latin name for the Tupelo tree (Nyssa sylvatica), and fittingly she feels most herself amongst the trees, watching birds, or close to water.

She has a B.S. in Natural Resources from Oregon State University, and a graduate certificate in Science Illustration from California State University, Monterey Bay. Her interest in the natural world has carried her to work and study in a variety of places across the west including Washington State, Montana, Oregon, and California. Her varied outdoor field work experiences have informed her familiarity and fondness for the flora and fauna of the western U.S., which in turn also inspire her artistic pursuits.

She enjoys working across mediums such as watercolor, printmaking, fiber, and more. Her goal as an artist is to help bring others into a space of curiosity, admiration, and connection with the natural world.
